The Last Jewish Gangster: An Interview with Author Myron Sugerman, February 8, 2023
We are thrilled to have shared a lovely evening with Myron Sugerman, Newark native, author, and expert on the history of the Jewish mob in Newark. He is author of The Chronicles of the Last Jewish Gangster: From Meyer to Myron and an activist fighting antisemitism and the American Nazi Party.
In our conversation, Myron shared with us his fascinating firsthand experiences and family connections with some of the most infamous Jewish Mobsters.
A Circle of Dedicated Donors
The Ner Tamid Society, more than 2,000 strong, sustains Jewish values and ensures the future of the Jewish community locally, in Israel, and around the world. Every contribution, at any level, strengthens our Jewish community’s safety net for those in need. The Ner Tamid Society Thank You Celebration, held every two years, recognizes the dedication of this special group of donors.
If you are a member of the Ner Tamid Society, we are indebted to you for your enduring commitment to Federation. You have touched the lives of millions of people in Greater MetroWest and beyond.
Your Impact Can Endure
To ensure that their impact continues in perpetuity, many Ner Tamid Society members consider making a legacy gift.
When you make Federation’s UJA Annual Campaign a part of your legacy, you secure the future of the Jewish community that was built on the foundation of your contributions. Your legacy gift also makes a powerful statement to your family and the wider community that our Jewish future matters to you.
One of the biggest misconceptions about legacy giving is that only the wealthy can do it. In fact, everyone can plan a legacy gift, regardless of current income or assets.
The most common types of legacy gift include:
- A bequest in a will
- A beneficiary designation in a retirement fund
- A beneficiary designation in a life insurance policy
- An outright gift of a life insurance policy that’s no longer needed

Have you included a bequest to Jewish Federation or the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater MetroWest NJ in your estate plans? If so, please let us know so that we can express our appreciation.
